SDA's Integrated Cat/Ornamental Fish Farm Business Plan (Invaluable!)

As I have said elsewhere on this CDROM, I have come a long way from finishing as a B.Sc, Second Class Upper Division(Best Graduating with CGPA of 5.9) Honours student of Agricultural Extension Services, University of Ibadan, Oyo State in 1992.

Among other things, I have apprenticed for over 5 months on a Catfish/ Ornamental Fish Farm(2002); attended Catfish Production Seminar(2004) among other things. PLUS I have a FULL business plan for my own Integrated Catfish Farm (complete with cash flow; profit/loss projections; production schedule; economics/capacity expansion projections etc) - which I have bundled with other resources on this CD for you.

It took me well over 6 months to put this business plan together. I had done it towards approaching banks to purchase equity ownership in my proposed farm. Not only did I visit some banks, but I met with specific individuals who were assigned t attend to persons seeking the kind of relationship I requested.

For the purposes of this CDROM, I will tell you that the SMEIS(Small and Medium Entreprises Equity Investment Scheme) as conceived by the government is VERY VERY different from the one accepted and implemented by the banks in Nigeria. If you are an individual, except, you have money bags backing you, or your type of project - by Nigerian standards - is heavily capital intensive, your need for equity participation may not fall within what our banks are prepared to expend resources on.

IF THE BANKS WON'T PLAY, HOW DOES THIS BIZ PLAN HELP YOU?

Well, for one thing it will force you to THINK of exactly what you need to setup YOUR own farm, and serve as a useful guide for you to work with in preparing your own. Secondly, you may not want to approach banks. But you might see good prospects in approaching certain individuals or groups for financing or equity participation. A carefully prepared and thorough business plan will boost the confidence of those you approach in you, and increase your chances of convincing them to invest in you/your project.

The recent changes initiated by Charles Soludo, in the banking sector, hopefully in the near future, will make banks more supportive of micro-startup entreprises. WHY GIVE AWAY MY OWN BUSINESS PLAN?
